Course Purpose:
The First Year Experience
Seminar has been developed to help incoming students understand many parts of
college that are still puzzling to their predecessors. This class will not only help you feel
more a part of campus life at Bemidji State University, but will also help you
develop the skills that you will need to complete your degree. Combined with elements of career and
life planning, the goal of this course is to give each student the tools to
have a successful experience at Bemidji State University.
Attendance:
Attendance for this class is
mandatory. Because we meet only
once per week it is especially important that students not miss any class
periods. If an emergency should arise please contact the instructor by phone or
email prior to class.
Assignments:
No late assignments will be
accepted. If any circumstances
beyond your control arise, please contact your instructor right away. ÒProcrastinationÓ is not an acceptable
excuse.

Requirements:
Attendance/Participation: This class is designed with students in
mind. There will be many
opportunities for students to take part in activities and discussions. Attendance and participation is very
necessary for these activities and discussions. Failure in the course will
result due to excessive absences.
Grading Scale:
A 90-100%
B 80-89%
C 70-79%
D 60-69%
F 59% and below
